Elections

Eastbourne is divided into nine electoral areas, known as wards. Each ward is represented by three councillors.

Why Are There no Local Elections in Eastbourne in May 2008?

From May 2007 Eastbourne changed to electing borough councillors every four years. This means that all three seats across all nine wards are up for election each time.

The next borough elections are due to take place in May 2011.

Elected Mayor Referendum

The Borough Council is required, by the Local Government Act 2000, to publish the minimum number of signatures which would be needed to support a valid petition requiring the council to hold a referendum on whether or not the Borough should have an Elected Mayor.
