Opportunity for art loving individual to volunteer at Towner!

Placement work

1 March 2013

Eastbourne’s award winning contemporary art museum has a great opportunity for enthusiastic individuals to participate in the Spring/Summer gallery placement programme.

Towner is the contemporary art museum for the South East and the placement is a great chance for someone to work along side gallery staff and gain valuable experience and a range of skills.

Training will cover all aspects of the front of house role, including customer services, health and safety, disability awareness, guiding tours, education workshops and conservation awareness (to name but a few areas!).

This placement will allow the candidate to develop personalised skills and gain valuable experience in a leading contemporary art gallery.

Eastbourne Borough Council Cabinet Member for Tourism & Leisure, Cllr Carolyn Heaps said, "This is a fantastic opportunity for those with a great passion for art to gain some valuable experience within the sector. The role sounds exciting and will contribute highly to the success of Towner- something extremely worthwhile."

Also, for the first time Towner is teaming up with De La Warr Pavilion in Bexhill, meaning there will be the possibility of extending placements further. De La Warr Pavilion is a grade one listed building housing a contemporary art gallery and auditorium.

The role is for two days a week, including weekends, in the gallery and a training day takes place every other Monday. The programme will last for 12 weeks, starting from week commencing 1 April or 1 July 2013, and applicants must be aged 18 or over.

The ideal applicants will be committed, enthusiastic; will have a great love for art, Towner and what they do.
