Issued by the Lawn Tennis Association on 3 May 2012:
Former British No.1 Greg Rusedski is making a welcome return to the court this summer for an exhibition match at the AEGON International.
Rusedski has been confirmed to play in a special legends match at Devonshire Park on Father’s Day, Sunday June 17, as part of a packed week at the AEGON International which takes place from 16-23 June.
Great Britain Junior Davis Cup team captain Rusedski will be squaring up against the big-hitting Australian and former Wimbledon finalist Mark Philippoussis in a singles match, followed by a mixed doubles match. Their female partners will be named in due course.
The duo met six times during their professional careers, including twice at The Championships, Wimbledon, with their head-to-head score level at 3-3.
Greg Rusedski said: “Mark is a great player and we’ve had some really good matches in the past, particularly on grass at Wimbledon and at the AEGON Championships at Queen’s Club.
“I’ve always enjoyed playing on grass and I’m looking forward to trying out the Devonshire Park courts. The AEGON International is always a fantastic event and I’m glad to be part of it.”
Mark Philippoussis added: “I’m excited to be involved in the AEGON International this summer. I’ve never played at Eastbourne during my professional career but I’m certainly looking forward to playing again this year.”
