The new Mayor, Councillor Mike Thompson, was in an energetic mood at the weekend as he tried his hand at numerous different sports as part of the Sports Festival organised by Eastbourne Borough Council.
Hundreds of local people descended on Hampden Park, Cavendish and Shinewater Sports Centres, the Eastbourne Sports Park and Eastbourne Rowing Club, to have a go at a multitude of sports.
Each activity cost just £1 and all the proceeds went to the NSPCC team in Eastbourne.
Sport & Community Facility Manager, Jimmy Chater, said: “The whole weekend was designed to get local people more involved in sport. We had a terrific response and raised over £1300 for the NSPCC. Taster session were organised in everything from fencing and kick boxing to baton twirling and archery. The Mayor had a go at all of them!”
