The new Mayor and Mayoress of Eastbourne officially reopened the Diana Memorial Garden in Hampden Park.
The garden is closed each year for vital maintenance work, carried out by volunteer Bertie Wilmshurst and his team, and this year the popular garden next to Hampden Park Station is looking better than ever.
The Mayor, Cllr Mike Thompson, was joined by fellow Hampden Park member Cllr Pat Hearn and other local residents for a ribbon cutting ceremony.
The newly turfed garden, with its topiary shrubs cut to spell Diana, will once again be entered into the prestigious South and South East In Bloom competition. This year funds were awarded to the garden from Eastbourne Borough Council’s devolved budget, handed out by local members.
