VisitEastbourne is inviting local businesses and social media users to Eastbourne: Game On, a tweetup and networking opportunity to encourage the local community to make the most of tourism and event opportunities during 2012 as part of English Tourism Week.
With national tourist body VisitBritain heralding 2012 as a key year for tourism with the 2012 Games and Queen’s Diamond Jubilee both promising spectacular celebrations, VisitEastbourne wants to encourage the local community to get the most out of the year ahead.
Following the success of its inaugural tweetup last November, VisitEastbourne will be repeating the format for English Tourism Week and inviting local twitter users to put faces to the people behind the tweets as well as extending the invitation to those who may not use twitter at a free drop-in event on Thursday 15 March.
Eastbourne Borough Council Cabinet Member for Tourism and Leisure Cllr Neil Stanley said “We are very excited to host Eastbourne: Game On, a great opportunity for the local community to come together, and chat with others about some of the brilliant events coming up this year.
“Twitter has become an important part of our tourism and leisure marketing, helping us to reach and engage with new audiences. We hope the opportunity to meet in person will be welcomed by local businesses and individuals who are interested in finding out a bit more about what’s happening in Eastbourne during 2012. It will also be good to have the chance to speak in more than 140 characters!”
VisitEastbourne will be teaming up with the town’s Conference Bureau once again to host the event, which will take place at the Winter Garden’s Congress Suite from 4 – 7pm on Thursday 15 March.
The event will be used to launch the new free VisitEastbourne Business Toolkit, coming soon to the website, as well as highlight the free venue-finding service offered by the town’s Conference Bureau, who tweeters will know as @ConferenceEB, and showcase opportunities available at some of Eastbourne’s major events this year.
Local tweeters and local businesses are invited to come along on Thursday 15 March and can find details of how to RSVP on the VisitEastbourne twitter feed.
