Local food proprietors converged on the Town Hall this week to receive the congratulations of The Mayor for their five star performance. The event was organised by Eastbourne Borough Council’s Food, Health & Safety Team to highlight the excellent standards achieved by many of the premises where the council have undertaken food inspections.
The results of the inspections are now available for anyone to see online via the food ratings link on the right of this page.
The initiative is part of the National Food Hygiene Rating Scheme and is designed to help consumers make informed choices about where they buy and eat food.
By visiting the website people can see at a glance how a businesses scored for their standards in food hygiene, with zero indicating ‘urgent improvement needed’ and 5 being ‘very good’.
All the ‘very good’ food premises were invited to the Town Hall to receive a special certificate from The Mayor.
Additionally, the partnership between the council and the Foods Standards Agency provides each business with a window sticker and a certificate that should be displayed prominently in the business to provide information to their customers.
Sussex Downs College level 2 hospitality students were on hand to prepare and serve refreshments to the 100 guests.
