Twenty-five Harley Davidsons will be roaring upto Eastbourne for its fabulous free two day motoring festival.
The 1066 HOG Chapter will be attending Magnificent Motors on Sunday 6 May to take part in its impressive seafront cavalcade.
The Harleys will be accompanied by over 200 other vehicles in the cavalcade, running from the Western Lawns to the showground at Princes Park. 2012 celebrates the ninth Magnificent Motors event on 5 – 6 May and motoring fans should expect an even bigger and more spectacular event than ever.
Last year’s successful move to the bigger ground at Prince Park led to a year long break for the cavalcade, enabling the festival’s smooth transition to the new site. However with exhibitors and the general public eager for its return, the cavalcade, which sets off at 10am, is living up to expectations.
Eastbourne Borough Council Cabinet Member for Tourism, Cllr Neil Stanley said: “Magnificent Motors seems to be getting better and better. It’s fantastic to have the cavalcade back for 2012 and with the Harleys joining the already dazzling array of motors, its set to be our best yet.”
The Harley Davidsons will also be taking part in a display at Princes Park over the bank holiday weekend. The active club, who are sponsored by Shaw’s, have over 300 members and will be adding Eastbourne’s motoring spectacular to their busy calendar – later this year they are taking 56 members to ride for two weeks in the USA.
Director of the 1066 HOG Chapter, Skelly said: “As a club we are invited to many shows and displays throughout the year and our members are only to happy to attend and share their bikes and experiences with members of the public. 1066 are very pleased to have been invited to take part in this years Magnificent Motors Event and just hope that it's a dry day - as when it rains it takes ages to clean all the chrome on the bike when we get home!”
The festival which is jointly organised by Eastbourne Borough Council, Eastbourne Historic Vehicle Club and East Sussex Omnibus Society regularly attracts over 600 classic and vintage vehicles, including cars, motorbikes, scooters, buses, military and commercial vehicles.
Last year’s festival included well over a century of motoring and featured an historic 1897 Henriod Phaeton and 1909 Brush Runabout, as well as a gleaming array of classic car clubs from MG’s and Jaguars to audacious American saloons.
A firm favourite with both young and old, the festival features live music, children’s rides and inflatables, plus visitors can enjoy classic bus rides along the seafront and pick up fresh produce and gifts at the continental market on the promenade.
HOG stands for Harley Owners Group – which is the largest factory sponsored club in the world. The 1066 Hog Chapter is the only one in the world that is known by a number and not a name.
