Former world No.1 Ana Ivanovic is set to return to Eastbourne this year after confirming her attendance at the AEGON International in June.

The 24-year-old will take to the courts at Devonshire Park again after reaching the second round of last year’s tournament.

The AEGON International takes place from June 16-23, and provides a final opportunity for some of the world’s best players to compete on grass before The Championships, Wimbledon, which starts the following week.

Ivanovic, who is coached by former LTA Head of Women’s Tennis Nigel Sears, said: “Eastbourne is a charming tournament and it’s one of the most competitive on the Tour – the field there is always strong. I enjoy competing at Eastbourne for a number of reasons, one of them is the facilities. The grass is beautiful, and now that I have a British coach [Nigel Sears], I appreciate this tournament even more.”

Last year saw 13 of the 20 top ranked female players competing at the AEGON International with world No.7 Marion Bartoli scooping the WTA title and Andreas Seppi from Italy winning the men’s tournament.

A bumper crowd is expected again at Devonshire Park this year – particularly on the opening day of the tournament, after it was announced that entry to the grounds will be free. Centre court and court one will also have unreserved seating making it the ideal time to see great tennis served daily.

Sunday June 17 will feature a host of legends competing in a Father’s Day tussle with the names of the contenders for the match-up set to be revealed in the near future.

To book, telephone the Box Office on 0844 581 3015 or book online at The Ticket Factory.
