GENERATE, an exciting new Towner project for 14 – 19 year olds, went off with a bang this summer – but if you missed the launch, you can still get involved as the project continues on alternate Saturday afternoons. This is your chance to take part in street art, fashion, graffiti, digital arts and more – as well as having your say in what Towner should be doing for young people like you.
This summer Towner celebrated the launch of GENERATE – a new project for young people encompassing activities, events, creative technologies and opportunity to get involved in Towner’s programmes.
Following workshops in the Town Centre, Hampden Park and Old Town earlier in the school holidays, young people from across Eastbourne and beyond joined the Towner team for a special summer school residency. They worked alongside professional event promoters (including Brighton’s Melting Vinyl), graphic designers, filmmakers and musicians to devise an event aimed at young people. The event will take place in the autumn – watch this space for a special “digital funfair”!
Eastbourne Borough Council Cabinet Member for Tourism, Councillor Neil Stanley said “We are thrilled that GENERATE got off to such a great start and are looking forward to working with more and more young people over the coming months. This is a truly unique opportunity for teenagers in Eastbourne, and I’m excited to see the results as the GENERATE team work with Towner staff to develop a young people’s event for the autumn. If you’re not yet part of GENERATE it’s not too late to get involved – come along on 24 September and be part of something that’s unlike anything Eastbourne has seen before!”
GENERATE is open to all young people aged 14 – 19 yrs and will be continuing throughout the autumn every alternate Saturday, starting 24 September, from 2 – 6pm.
