Cabinet councillors agreed a new approach to litter bins last night as Eastbourne Borough Council teamed up with TB Bin Company.
The Council is always looking for new ways to save money and come up with a new innovative idea. The local business will supply the town, free of charge, with additional high-quality bins which they will maintain and jet wash at least once a week as part of the new contract.
Unlike most bins, these will carry advertising, with the council receiving 20% of the income generated.
Cllr Steve Wallis, Cabinet Portfolio Holder for Environment, said: “With 81% of residents currently satisfied with the cleanliness of the town, we are looking to improve on this figure still further and so we are very excited about the partnership with TB Bin Company, and the innovative scheme they are offering.
“The advertising will be of great benefit to both the council and the community by enabling local businesses to promote themselves whilst allowing for reinvestment into the town. This new initiative will not impact on our existing contracts with other cleansing companies”
