Young people aged 14 – 19 years old are being invited to D GENERATE, Towner’s brand new Digital Funfair, taking place on Saturday 10 December.
D GENERATE has been created by Towner’s new Generate crew, a group aimed to encourage young people to get the most out of Eastbourne’s contemporary art museum, and is being held in association with festival circuit favourite Boredbrands Digital Funfair.
The free club evening will take place from 8pm – 11pm and party goers will see Towner’s exhibition halls transformed into a digital fairground offering a virtual coconut shy, a semi-automatic DJ-ing table, the Beat Jigsaw and Smack Bottoms – the world’s only mannequin based guitar hero game.
Some of Eastbourne’s most promising young bands will provide a soundtrack for the evening, with performances from Trade Secret, On the Spot and The Rahminis, all surrounded by animated graffiti and artwork created by the Generate crew.
Eastbourne Borough Council Cabinet Member for Tourism and Leisure Cllr Neil Stanley said “What a fantastic evening we have coming up at Towner next weekend! D GENERATE has been created for young people by young people and we’re really excited to have the chance to showcase what a unique venue Towner is for people of all ages. The evening is free for visitors so I’d encourage young people to come along and experience a night out with a difference!”
This is the first event of its kind at Towner and the first to be created from start to finish by the Generate crew, which formed in August and meet at Towner every other Saturday afternoon.
Generate aims to encourage young people aged 14 – 19 to get the most out of Towner and the ongoing project has seen participants generating and engaging in a wide range of activities using the latest creative technology including iPads, Photoshop, audio tech, film, animation and web.
