VisitEastbourne.com and Comet Team Up to Get Snap Happy

Airbourne

16 May 2011

VisitEastbourne.com has teamed up with Comet Eastbourne to encourage visitors to get snap happy at the town’s major events this year for the chance to win a Sony Cyber-shot Digital Camera.

This weekend celebrates Eastbourne’s brand new Cycling Festival taking place on the western seafront from 21-22 May and with a packed programme of road races, cyclosportives, stunt displays, family rides, wattbike challenges, Rollapaluza and more taking place, it presents plenty of photo opportunities for visitors.

Entrants are being asked to submit their photographs via the VisitEastbourne facebook page with the competition running until 31 August 2011, meaning there is plenty of time to capture a range of events taking place, including Airbourne, Eastbourne Extreme and the AEGON International Tennis Championships.

Eastbourne Borough Council Cabinet Member for Tourism Cllr Neil Stanley said “We are very excited to be working alongside Comet Eastbourne to really encourage as many visitors as possible to capture our brilliant events on camera and share their photos with fans of the town on the VisitEastbourne facebook page. Photography really is down to the individual and it will be great to see the many different angles that visitors capture. By running the competition through facebook, we hope to be able to really spread the word about Eastbourne’s bumper event programme and attract comments and ‘likes’ on the photo entries! It is brilliant to have the support of our local Comet branch in encouraging local photography.”

The May Bank Holiday weekend at the end of the month presents another opportunity for keen photographers to capture the spirit of visitors out and about enjoying Eastbourne’s events with the new Fiesta taking place on the Western Lawns. Photo opportunities will include a mass zumba session, live cookery demonstrations, barn dance, and mini beer festival.

With June, July and August promising even more events; from the chance to snap Venus Williams at the AEGON International to fast jets zooming through the skies at Airbourne, and from quick shutter action capturing parkour at Extreme to a step back in time with Armed Forces Weekend at the Redoubt; Eastbourne has endless opportunities to be caught on camera.

Entrants can submit as many photographs as they wish and must upload them to the VisitEastbourne facebook page or they can be emailed to competitions@eastbourne.gov.uk. All photographs will be added to a gallery on facebook where fans will be able to comment and ‘like’ the photographs with the overall winner to be decided after 31 August 2011. A monthly winner will be picked in May, June and July and they will receive a pair of tickets to a Bandstand concert.
