Three new major conference bookings for Eastbourne’s Devonshire Park Centre are set to boost the town’s economy by up to £1 million.
Eastbourne Conference Bureau has just won three significant bookings for dates over the next two years, which will bring more than 1,800 delegates into town. The agent Creative Realisation are bringing a client with 1,000 delegates for a three day conference for 2012 in Eastbourne, while a Southern Rail event and a booking made through agent Principle Promotions will bring a further 800 delegates into the south coast resort.
An Eastbourne Borough Council spokesperson said “We are extremely pleased to secure these new conferences for Eastbourne and continue to attract big names to use the Devonshire Park Centre for their events. We already have a packed calendar of conferences taking place in Eastbourne, including the Royal British Legion Women’s Section who will celebrate their 90th anniversary year at their Eastbourne event later this summer, and these new bookings come as a further boost to the local economy.
“The Conference Bureau work closely with Eastbourne’s hotels and guesthouses to find accommodation for delegates and with many events taking place outside of the main summer season, conference trade is integral to recognising Eastbourne as a year round destination.”
The new bookings come at a busy time for Eastbourne Conference Bureau with the team exhibiting earlier this month at International Confex promoting the town’s conference facilities to a large footfall of national event organisers. Also celebrating the revamp of the official Conference Eastbourne website, the Conference Bureau are seeing an increase in enquiries being received.
