Visitors to Eastbourne seafront are being invited to follow a new murder mystery walking trail this weekend and solve the whodunit as Treasure Trails opens on the main resort promenade.
Organised in partnership with Murder at the Mowbray and Eastbourne Borough Council visitors can follow a walking trail taking in key locations along the seafront and town centre as they try to solve the murder mystery.
The Treasure Trails packs are available to purchase from the Murder Mystery kiosk on the lower promenade near the Pier and contain a set of clues encouraging visitors to discover Eastbourne’s heritage and unearth interesting facts, while they eliminate a gallery of suspects and weapons in a Cluedo style mystery.
Eastbourne Borough Council Cabinet Member for Tourism, Cllr Neil Stanley said “We are very excited to launch these new walking trails encouraging visitors and residents to discover significant locations along Eastbourne seafront while trying to solve a murder mystery at the same time. The clues and route have been designed to cover as much of the main resort seafront as possible, including parts of the town centre, and the trails make a fun way to discover Eastbourne by foot!”
The Treasure Trails murder mystery packs cost £5 and are available to purchase from the Murder Mystery kiosk near the Pier, Seafront Office, Tourist Information Centre and online from Treasure Trails and available soon from the Visit Eastbourne web sites.
Covering a walking route of 1.8 miles and taking about 2 hours to complete, the trails offer an interactive way for groups to work together to solve the mystery and at the end of the trail, walkers can check the Treasure Trails website to see if they have discovered the correct suspect with the chance to win a cash prize.
To complement the Murder Mystery walks, the popular Murder at the Mowbray, which is in its third successful year, is launching a summer season of Murder Mystery dinners. Tickets can also be purchased at the kiosk.
With the town already launching a Film and TV Location Guide and Map earlier this year showcasing locations in Eastbourne that have featured on the silver screen and with a series of Heritage Walks also available to follow, the Treasure Trails come as a further boost to encourage visitors to enjoy a walking tour of Eastbourne.
Treasure Trails opens on Eastbourne seafront this Saturday 2 July and will be open at weekends and bank holidays, and everyday during the school holidays, with visitors invited to view a gallery of suspects inside. For more information go to the Treasure Trails web site.
