UKIP are bringing their national conference to Eastbourne this autumn after the town’s Conference Bureau spotted them on twitter!
Eastbourne Conference Bureau noticed UKIP members mentioning Eastbourne on twitter as the venue for this year’s event and after a series of tweets and phone calls have secured the national conference at the Devonshire Park Centre.
The UKIP event will take place this September bringing up to 900 delegates into the seaside destination using the Congress Theatre, Congress Suite, Gold Room and International Lawn Tennis Centre.
This is the latest win for Eastbourne Conference Bureau who have already secured three major conferences in 2011, bringing up to £1 million into the town over the next two years.
Eastbourne Borough Council Senior Head of Tourism and Leisure Tracey McNulty said “We are very pleased to secure this major UKIP event for Eastbourne and the booking is made even more exciting by the fact that we won it through twitter! We are always exploring new ways to market Eastbourne Conference Bureau and the Devonshire Park Centre and our move into the social networking world is certainly paying off.
“Already looking at the longer term future of conferences in Eastbourne with the review of the Devonshire Park Centre, we want Eastbourne to become recognised as a premier business destination and securing big name events such as this can only boost the town.”
Earlier this spring Eastbourne Conference Bureau announced that three new events will bring 1,800 delegates into the destination between now and 2013, including a Southern Rail event, and two bookings made through agents Creative Realisation and Principle Promotions.
With the Conference Bureau now on facebook too and getting ready to exhibit at the Let’s Do Business event in Eastbourne next week, the team hope to attract even more new business into the town over the coming months.
