Soapstar Celebrity Football Returns to Eastbourne

Visitors are invited to cheer on their favourite soap characters next weekend as some of TV’s most familiar faces come to Eastbourne for the return of Soapstar Celebrity Football on Sunday 7 August.

This year the charity football match is raising money for Eastbourne charity, the Tuesday O’Hara Fund, and visitors can look forward to watching a star studded team take on Eastbourne United Veterans at The Oval, next to Princes Park.

Celebrity players will include Emmerdale’s Danny Miller, Hollyoaks’ Anthony Quinlan and Jay Khan, and Elliot Tittensor from Shameless, with kick off at 1.30pm.

Eastbourne Borough Council Cabinet Member for Tourism, Cllr Neil Stanley said “The team sheet for this year’s Soapstar Celebrity Football is looking brilliant with some popular household names confirmed to take part. With a funfair, BBQ and bar also on site, it makes a great family day out and it’s all in aid of a fantastic local cause.”

Gates open at 11am and visitors will be able to enjoy refreshments from the BBQ and bar while the players warm up ready for kick off. With more players still to be confirmed, visitors will have the chance to meet their favourite soap characters before watching them in action.

There’s plenty more on in Eastbourne for families next weekend too. Next door at Princes Park, the Netherlands National Circus comes to town for the first time and audiences can look forward to a Dutch twist on the traditional rich recipe, with flying trapeze, warm and original clowning, stylish and daring acrobats and mystifying illusions!

Sunday 7 August also presents the Vintage Bus Running Day with the chance to enjoy classic bus rides around the town, including to Beachy Head and Pevensey Bay.
