Have Your Say at the Eastbourne Culture Workshop

17 January 2011

Sports providers, festival organisers, community groups, local organisations, and individual artists and musicians, are being invited to come together for the first Eastbourne Culture Workshop next week.

On Wednesday 26th January, the town’s first Culture Workshop will take place at the Winter Garden and the local community can come along to have their say on what they think are Eastbourne’s best cultural assets, as well as share ideas on how cultural activity can be improved.

Eastbourne Borough Council Cabinet Member for Tourism, Cllr Neil Stanley said “We are very excited to be holding the Culture Workshop next week, the first event of its kind for Eastbourne. I really hope to see as many people as possible come along so we can listen to their views on Eastbourne’s cultural assets and what else we could be doing to really tie all of our cultural activity together and bring it to the heart of the community.

“Eastbourne is in a fantastic position culturally, boasting an award-winning gallery, packed events programme, top sports facilities, five theatres, a wealth of heritage on our doorstep, as well as some very talented people. This is a brilliant platform that we would love to build upon and connect all of our cultural strengths together.”

The event, funded through the Beacon Status, which Eastbourne Borough Council was awarded through the work of Towner and others, will be an opportunity for interested groups to explore how to position culture at the heart of Eastbourne’s strategic planning.

The Culture Workshop will take place from 1.30pm – 5.30pm on Wednesday 26th January and anyone is welcome to attend. To register to attend or for more information, email nneka@tfconsultancy.co.uk or call 0207 430 0855.
