Activating the Labour Market

19 January 2011

The newly named Activating Eastbourne partnership has just launched its Action Plan for 2011, which includes being a key development partner in the opening of a one-stop-shop for employment advice in the town centre and creating an online information hub for job seekers and employers.

Formerly known as Enterprising Eastbourne, the partnership set up to boost the local economy has changed its name after the MP’s Commission became branded as Enterprise Eastbourne.

Activating Eastbourne is based on a term used when monitoring the activity of the labour market and will avoid any confusion between the two partnerships in the local community.

The partnership’s objectives are to give information, advice and guidance to local unemployed people to help them obtain employment and to promote job creation, and it is looking ahead to a busy year after signing off its Action Plan to steer its delivery in 2011.

In a statement, Councillor Bannister, the Chair of the Enterprising Eastbourne Group said, “We want people to understand and become familiar with the

Partnership hence a name change to Activating Eastbourne. 2011 is set to be an exciting year and the partnership intends to make an impression in Eastbourne."

The partnership will also continue to monitor the economy with the next Local Economy Snapshot to be released in April.
