9 February 2011 Eastbourne is using its top sunshine record to attract visitors to the coast and countryside in 2011 as it launches its brand new Holiday Guide boasting a bright contemporary colour scheme and fresh photography, highlighting the destination’s bumper events programme, silver screen successes, and sporting connections.
The 2011 Eastbourne Holiday Guide has been hitting doorsteps since December and already guide requests are up 48% from this time last year, reflecting continued interest in an Eastbourne staycation.
With a brand new window display now in place in the town’s Tourist Information Centre (TIC) and the Mini Guide coming out this week, Eastbourne is carrying its bright colour palette, hero shot of Eastbourne Pier, and status as the UK’s sunniest place, across all tourism marketing materials to establish a recognisable brand for the south coast resort.
Eastbourne Borough Council Cabinet Member for Tourism, Cllr Neil Stanley said “We are extremely proud to launch this year’s fantastic Eastbourne Holiday Guide showcasing the very best our beautiful destination has to offer and building on the style and colours used in the 2010 brochure. Elements of the previous design have been updated with wonderful new touches and fabulous fresh photography to continue to attract a younger demographic to Eastbourne, without alienating our core visitors.
“With the Tourist Information Centre having undergone a visual transformation with an eye-catching window design based on this year’s Holiday Guide, and with the launch of the new VisitEastbourne.com website just last week, we have developed a great brand for the destination, reinforcing the message to both visitors and residents that Eastbourne is a great place to live, work, and visit.”
The Holiday Guide, Mini Guide, TIC window display, and conference marketing materials all carry the same hero shot of Eastbourne Pier, captured by local businessman Jonathan Webley. Eastbourne’s sunny status is further reinforced throughout the guides with new photography of Beachy Head, the Bandstand and Sovereign Harbour Marina.
From showcasing Eastbourne’s cultural tapestry and rich heritage to the stunning seafront and South Downs National Park on the doorstep, the Holiday Guide contains special spreads this year reminding set-jetters of the town’s colourful year of filming, including the recent Brighton Rock, as well as a page highlighting Eastbourne as a tennis hotspot.
With the AEGON International Tennis Championships secured for the next three years at Devonshire Park and the International Lawn Tennis Centre available as a Pre-2012 Games Training Camp, Eastbourne is keen to promote its sporting connections ahead of 2012 and the potential boost the Games could bring to the local economy.
This year’s Guide also contains a more comprehensive events listing in response to visitor research, illustrating that visitors would like more information to plan their break in Eastbourne.
