Eastbourne’s iconic seafront Bandstand will continue a longstanding festive tradition with the return of the free Christmas Day and Boxing Day concerts plus a special performance on New Year’s Day.
Eastbourne Silver Band will perform a traditional concert on Christmas Day from 10.45am – 12.15pm while The Ray Campbell Dance Band will bring the venue to life with popular Christmas songs and dancing from 11am – 12.30pm on Boxing Day, as a brave bunch enjoy a customary dip in the sea.
The free festive concerts attract thousands of visitors each year and have become a favourite Eastbourne tradition since they started back in 1935.
Eastbourne Borough Council Cabinet Member for Tourism and Leisure Cllr Neil Stanley said “Christmas isn’t complete without the popular Bandstand concerts in Eastbourne! Every year it never fails to surprise me just how many visitors and residents come along to enjoy the free festive performances and there’s a fantastic community atmosphere with everyone getting into the Christmas spirit. We are delighted to continue the New Year’s Day Concert for 2012 too and it promises a brilliant way to celebrate what is set to be a great year for tourism in Eastbourne.”
For the second year running Eastbourne Bandstand will add a third date to its Christmas calendar with the Ray Campbell Dance Band kicking 2012 off with a New Year’s Day Concert from 11am – 12.30pm.
The Lion Hotels Group have made sure that Eastbourne Bandstand is dressed for the festive season this year by supplying and dressing Christmas trees with lights to line the stage and seafront around the landmark.
