Seth Lakeman Sell Out Success!

August 31st, 2011.

Eastbourne’s iconic seafront landmark is celebrating a sell out success this weekend with a special concert by one of the country’s leading folk musicians, Seth Lakeman, packing the historic Bandstand.

Widely regarded as the UK’s foremost folk singer songwriter, Seth Lakeman had the audience on their feet as he performed favourite tracks from his latest studio album Hearts & Minds, as well as hits from 2008’s Top 10 critically acclaimed album Poor Man’s Heaven.

Fans flocked to Eastbourne Bandstand on Sunday night for the special one off concert with visitors heaping praise on the performance via twitter, commenting that it was an ‘amazing show and beautiful setting’ and asking for ‘more like this please!’

Eastbourne Borough Council Cabinet Member for Tourism and Leisure, Cllr Neil Stanley said “What a brilliant evening at Eastbourne Bandstand and such a good atmosphere with the audience really enjoying Seth’s performance. It was fantastic to see something completely different at the Bandstand and for the concert to sell out in the arena and middle balcony too with just a few seats remaining on the top balcony; it just goes to show what a unique and versatile venue the Bandstand is! We’ll certainly be looking to build on this success through the Bandstand’s concert programme for 2012.”

Eastbourne Bandstand’s full house on Sunday evening certainly supported the growing popularity of folk music, after the likes of Mumford & Sons and Laura Marling scooped prizes at the Brit Awards earlier this year.

The venue is now looking ahead to the final month of the 2011 concert season, with highlights for September including a Take That tribute night this Friday with The Greatest Take That Tribute back by popular demand for their second performance this year, spectacular 1812 Firework Concerts and a very special Tribute to the Tributes Firework Concert to mark the end of this year’s programme.

Tickets for all concerts are on sale now from the Bandstand website or by calling 01323 410611. For more information on what’s coming up at Eastbourne Bandstand and to sign up to receive regular e-newsletters with the latest news, go to the Bandstand website.
