An Eastbourne pub has been judged top in the South East with The Farm at Friday Street winning the Best Managed Pub in the region from the Great British Pub Awards.
The pub will now face competition from across the country to be named Best Managed Pub in Britain at the national awards next month.
Run by Whiting and Hammond for the past four years, The Farm at Friday Street is committed to using locally sourced produce with a daily changing menu and has used word of mouth recommendations to remain successful during tough economic times.
Eastbourne Borough Council Cabinet Member for Tourism and Leisure Cllr Neil Stanley said “It is fantastic for Eastbourne to have one of its pubs named best in the South East and to go through to represent the town at national level. With the South Downs National Park on our doorstep, nearby vineyards, and located on the south coast, Eastbourne is ideally positioned to have access to a wealth of locally produced food and drink and The Farm presents a great opportunity for visitors to really enjoy a taste of Sussex! With plenty of fantastic media coverage for Eastbourne over the past few weeks, we are delighted to have another opportunity to shout about Eastbourne and its wonderful attractions and events!”
The Farm at Friday Street was recently highlighted by The Belfast Telegraph, which described the Eastbourne venue as a ‘highly popular gastro pub brasserie, with tasty, no nonsense food in truly generous portions.’
The Great British Pub award for The Farm comes in the same week that Eastbourne was named Destination of the Week by The Independent as the town gets ready for Airbourne International Airshow this weekend.
