Hotel and guest house staff are being invited to a seminar organised by Eastbourne Borough Environmental Health Officers and the Health Protection Agency (HPA) on the 5th October 2010 to help prevent any potential spread of Norovirus. More commonly knows as stomach flu, good hand hygiene is the simplest way to reduce the spread of infection, which causes vomiting and diarrhoea.
The seminar will offer tips on how to keep buildings clean and free from germs. The meeting will also discuss on how to deal with an outbreak quickly to prevent it from spreading to other guests
Eastbourne Borough Council Cabinet spokesperson said, “We are proud of our guest accommodation here in Eastbourne. Unfortunately, there are extremely rare times when guests fall ill due to a viral bug. These bugs can be easily spread and outbreaks are common in places where people mix together.”
A pack has been designed by the team for use in hotels and guest houses that will help deal with the first signs of an outbreak, with the aim of preventing the involvement of outside agencies or needing to close the building for a deep clean.
The course is being held at the Town Hall and will run from 10am to 1pm, spaces are limited so booking early is essential.
