It’s out with the old and in with the new as the Council’s plans to change the way it works start to take shape. Eastbourne residents will see scaffolding erected around No. 1 Grove Road, as required works to the building commence ahead of staff moving out of 68 Grove Road and into No. 1 next Spring.
Leader of the Council, Councillor David Tutt says “Concentrating our key services in one building has been an ambition of the Council for some time. It is exciting to see works start to No. 1 that will enable that ambition to be realised. Our accommodation plans together with the implementation of wider flexibility in how we deliver our services, will bring about £3million of savings over the next three years. These savings will help us to protect both jobs and the services the Council provides to local residents and visitors to the town.”
68 Grove Road is privately owned and has been rented by Eastbourne Borough Council and will be marketed in order to bring new companies into the heart of Eastbourne. Freeing up a prime site in Eastbourne’s town centre offers a unique opportunity for a company to acquire landmark premises, with the benefit of secure underground car parking.
