13 October 2010 Eastbourne is counting down the days to the start of a packed autumn conference season with 7,000 delegates expected over the next couple of months as the country’s sunniest place shows off its year round tourism offer.
Between now and the end of November, Eastbourne’s main conference venue, the Devonshire Park Centre, will host six major events including the British Cheerleading Association bringing their Southern Classic Competition to Eastbourne for the first time.
This new event is a major addition to the Eastbourne conference diary ready to pack Devonshire Park with 1,000 competitors and a further 2,000 spectators filling the resort’s hotels and guesthouses and bringing a huge boost to the local economy for the two day event.
Eastbourne Borough Council Cabinet Spokesperson for Tourism, Cllr Neil Stanley said “What a busy couple of months we have coming up in Eastbourne with our bumper conference calendar crucial for making the town a year round destination. We already have a series of major events throughout the summer but the addition of back to back conferences during the shoulder months is great news for our accommodation providers and a welcome boost to the town’s economy. This year we are very excited to be welcoming the British Cheerleading Association to the Devonshire Park Centre for the first time and showcase what a versatile venue it is.”
Other events coming up during October and November include Rotary 1130, Rotary 1140 and Rotary 1120 bringing 2,000 delegates, Mission Worship bringing 1,200 delegates and Spring Harvest bringing another 1,000 delegates.
