Town Hall Turns Clock Red

23 November 2010

The Deputy Mayor of Eastbourne, Councillor Margaret Salsbury, will be wearing a red ribbon on 1st December, in support of World Aids Day and leading a procession from the Town Hall to the Seafront.

The Deputy Mayor of Eastbourne says “I am looking forward to taking part in this event as bringing people together helps to raise awareness of HIV.  It would be excellent to see lots of people come along and take part and support World Aids Day with us.”

The procession will leave the town hall steps at 6.30pm and walk to the *seafront where the Mayor will lead those gathered in remembrance and celebration of the lives of people who have sadly passed, and those who live with HIV now.  Then it is on to the Hart in Cavendish Place for a warming cup of coffee, light refreshments and an evening of entertainment.

Joining the procession will be officers from Sussex Police.

*Amendment due to weather conditions:

The procession will no longer walk to the seafront, reverting instead to the first year’s procession route to the Town Centre, along Grove Road, Terminus Road and stopping in Sussex Gardens where the Deputy Mayor will say a few words.  The walk will continue to The Hart in Cavendish Place, as planned.
