11 May 2010 The popular tribute season at an iconic seafront entertainment venue is off to a spectacular start as last week’s Abba Fever Firework opener packed the arena at Eastbourne Bandstand.
Concert goers filled the seafront landmark on Friday evening for the first tribute night of the season making Eastbourne Bandstand the must visit venue for the weekend.
This week Mercury are set to take to the stage for a tribute to Queen and audiences can look forward to performances of classics I Want to Break Free, Bohemian Rhapsody, and Don’t Stop Me Now.
An Eastbourne Borough Council spokesperson said “The tribute season at Eastbourne Bandstand always promises a top evening of entertainment setting the mood for a fantastic weekend at the UK’s sunniest resort. The Queen night is always a favourite with audiences at the Bandstand and returning later in the summer too, it means Queen fans have two chances to enjoy this brilliant act in 2010.”
Tickets for the tribute concerts are already on sale with those who book in advance saving £1 off on the door prices and with tickets already selling fast, visitors are encouraged to book early to guarantee the best seats in the house.
With a packed season of tribute nights coming up between now and September including favourite groups of today such as Girls Aloud and Take That, to old favourites like The Beach Boys and the Bee Gees, Eastbourne Bandstand promises entertainment for every generation!
Next weekend offers a more genteel experience at Eastbourne Bandstand too with the Sevenoaks and Tonbridge Concert Band filling the stage for the Traditional Afternoon Concert on Sunday.
The full concert programme gets underway in June when the 1812 Firework Concerts, Big Band Nights, Rock ‘n’ Roll and more return to the iconic venue.
Celebrating its 75th Birthday in 2010 Eastbourne Bandstand will also be holding two special concerts to mark the occasion, with The Band of the Guards Association marking 75 years since the first ever concerts on 28 July and The Central Band of the Royal British Legion celebrating 75 years since the Bandstand was officially opened on 5 August.
