Three In A Bed with a Twist at Guesthouse East

26 May 2010

A boutique style guesthouse in the UK’s Most Holiday-Friendly Town is taking inspiration from Channel 4’s Three In A Bed series and throwing the gauntlet open for guests to pitch their prices.

Unlike the TV show where the guests pay at the end of their visit based on how much they feel the room is worth, Eastbourne’s Guesthouse East is offering new visitors the chance to Name Your Price by calling and pitching how much they’d be willing to pay before booking their stay.

With forecasts of a BBQ summer, the Eastbourne guesthouse is hoping that visitors will be attracted to the offer during the staycation and take the opportunity to explore the UK’s sunniest place at a reduced rate.

Eastbourne Borough Council Cabinet Member for Tourism, Cllr Neil Stanley said “This is an absolutely fantastic idea and something that I really hope will catch the public’s imagination and get visitors contacting the guesthouse to name their price! With Eastbourne receiving some brilliant coverage over the past few weeks including GMTV confirming that we are officially the sunniest place and being named the UK’s Most Holiday-Friendly Destination by Virgin Money Travel Insurance, Eastbourne finds itself very well placed to encourage domestic visitors looking for a break. It is excellent news that our hoteliers are using these factors to their advantage and finding quirky ways to attract new visitors to our beautiful resort.”

Name Your Price will be run on selected dates over the summer months with visitors new to Eastbourne being offered the opportunity to pitch their price for a double suite in the stylish Grade II-listed Regency villa, with the chance to bag considerable savings on the rooms that would normally cost £90 for two sharing during the peak season.

Carl Stanger, who owns and runs the Guesthouse East with wife Sarah, said “With summer hotting up, we’ve just started to roll out this new promotion and the response already has been brilliant! Visitors feel that they’re getting a bargain and we are happy that we can hopefully bring new people to Eastbourne.”

The Guesthouse East is unique in Eastbourne, combining the freedom of self catering with the indulgence of hotel-quality services.  Each of its individually-styled suites has a self-contained kitchen, but for holidaymakers that don’t want to cook, a range of locally-sourced breakfasts are on offer.

The Name Your Priceoffer will next be run for stays at The Guesthouse East on Friday 25 June and visitors can start pitching now for an early summer getaway.

With VisitBritain indicating that the staycation is here to stay in 2010 and with the volcanic ash cloud still causing problems, Eastbourne is keen to make the most of its status as the UK’s sunniest place and use its top sunshine levels rivalling European destinations, together with affordable and quality accommodation, packed events programme, top theatre shows, award-winning Towner gallery and stunning South Downs National Park countryside to emerge as a leading destination this summer.
