26 May 2010 The popular 1812 Firework Concerts at Eastbourne Bandstand return to the UK’s Most Holiday-Friendly Destination next week lighting up the seafront skies.
Sussex Brass will kick off the spectacular firework concert season next Wednesday 2 June continuing a traditional evening that has been performed at the iconic Eastbourne landmark for more than 25 years. A best selling night at Eastbourne Bandstand, audiences can look forward to a packed evening of dazzling pyrotechnics culminating in Tchaikovsky’s famous 1812 overture.
Eastbourne Borough Council Cabinet Member for Tourism, Cllr Neil Stanley said “The 1812 Concerts are a firm favourite in the Bandstand calendar promising a brilliant evening of fireworks and band entertainment every Wednesday throughout the summer. Celebrating its 75th Birthday in 2010, Eastbourne Bandstand is the country’s only fully operational Bandstand and visitors and residents have plenty of opportunities to experience its unique concert atmosphere over the next few months. I’d encourage as many people as possible to go along to a Bandstand concert in 2010 and take in our beautiful historic venue in its 75th birthday year.”
The 1812 Firework Concerts continue every Wednesday through to 29 September promising bands from around the country filling the stage every week, including The Band of the Guards Association playing a special Birthday concert on 28 July marking 75 years since the first ever concerts at the Bandstand.
With the full Bandstand programme getting underway in June, the popular Friday night tribute concerts will be joined by Afternoon on Broadway on Saturday, Rock n Roll on Saturday evenings, Proms Concerts on Sundays, Big Band on Thursdays and many more.
The tribute season has already got off to a sell-out start with the Abba Fever and Queen concerts packing the arena. This Friday, Beatlez return with a tribute to the iconic Liverpool band kicking off a bumper Bank Holiday weekend in Eastbourne.
