Status Quo Fans ARE Welcome in Eastbourne

Eastbourne Bandstand
11 June 2010

Status Quo fans are being invited to Eastbourne next week after neighbouring city Brighton upset supporters of the English rock band in a new recruitment campaign.

Next Friday Eastbourne Bandstand is staging a tribute to the popular 60s rock band with Counterfeit Quo performing an evening concert at the seafront venue.

After Brighton & Hove City Council set up a new website ‘Status Quo Fans Need Not Apply’, Eastbourne Tourism bosses are sending out a special message to Quo fans along the south coast that they are welcome in Eastbourne and promise a top evening out at the iconic seaside landmark with performances of the band’s most popular hits.

Eastbourne Borough Council Cabinet Member for Tourism, Cllr Neil Stanley said “Eastbourne Bandstand has a packed programme of concerts in 2010 promising a brilliant selection of music from the past as well as favourite hits of today. It is very timely that we have the Status Quo tribute concert on Friday and hope that the band’s fans will choose to visit Eastbourne for a great night out. With such a varied calendar of events and concerts still to come this year, the Bandstand really does have something for everyone.”

Tickets are on sale now from the Bandstand website for all Bandstand concerts and audiences can book in advance and save up to £1 off some concerts. With many tribute nights already selling out and packing the arena in 2010, Quo fans are being encouraged to book quickly for their place at next week’s concert.

And with Friday evening also seeing England’s second fixture in their World Cup campaign, Eastbourne is offering an alternative for those looking to escape the football.

Friday will see the Semi-Finals take place at the AEGON International Tennis Championships at Devonshire Park in Eastbourne. With top players from around the world taking part in the week long tournament, visitors to Eastbourne have the chance to enjoy first class sporting action during the day before an alfresco seafront concert.
