24 June 2010 An iconic seaside landmark is calling visitors to book now and commit to Friday 2 July when The Conmitments come to Eastbourne Bandstand for a tribute concert to the Dublin band.
Next week Eastbourne Bandstand is getting ready for a packed tribute concert based on the popular Commitments movie, which tells the story of forming a soul band in the tradition of stars such as Otis Redding and Aretha Franklin. Visitors can look forward to hits such as Mustang Sally, In The Midnight Hour and Take Me To The River in the unique seaside venue.
Eastbourne Borough Council Cabinet Member for Tourism, Cllr Neil Stanley said “The tribute season at Eastbourne Bandstand continues to go from strength to strength in 2010 with a real variety of acts performing each week. Almost half way through this year’s tribute programme, there are still some top acts to come including tributes to Take That, The Beach Boys and Dirty Dancing. With the full concert programme now underway, visitors can take their pick of today’s most popular hits as well as music from days gone by.”
Big Band Sound is back with a bang for Thursday evenings with music from this popular era coming up every week until September, while Saturday evenings come alive during the summer with Rock n Roll concerts until the end of August.
With Gilbert and Sullivan nights opening the week after next at the Bandstand on Monday 5 July, Eastbourne Bandstand is home to musical variety nearly every day of the week offering music lovers of all generations the chance to enjoy live entertainment alfresco.
