Ward budget helps Teach

16 December 2010

The English school of Polish Language Association is being given £2,500 from Devonshire ward councillors budget to help with the good work they carry out in the local community.

The money will go towards activities including English and Polish language teaching, arts classes, toddlers groups, and mums clubs.  The groups that attend the school are cross-community and attract all ages from various backgrounds.

Councillor Wallis says, “This is the third community project that the devolved budget scheme has assisted in and around the town centre. Local councillors are working closely with local groups to ensure they have the support they need to assist them in their range of excellent community projects.”

Devonshire ward councillors have visited the school to discuss the great work they do and look at how they could help.  The councillors decided to give the funds to the school to help the community with after school classes and other activities.

Ward budgets are an amount of money set aside for councillors to spend on one off projects in their wards, residents who have an idea of something in the area that could do with help should contact their ward councillor.
