15 December 2010 ‘Help piece together the future of your town’ is the message being promoted to residents as a 12-week consultation is launched asking for feedback and views on The Eastbourne Plan, a document that sets out the vision for the borough up until 2027 and has been formulated following extensive neighbourhood engagement during 2009.
From this Friday 17th December, Eastbourne Borough Council is calling on residents to have their say on the future of Eastbourne with a series of events, exhibitions, and stakeholder meetings which are taking place around the town. There will also be opportunities to leave feedback online and join a community discussion on the Council’s facebook and twitter pages.
Eastbourne Borough Council Cabinet Member for the Environment, Councillor Steve Wallis said “The Eastbourne Plan is a vital document as it will help realise our aim of making the Borough an even better place to live, work or visit.
“We hope that the local community will actively respond to this consultation exercise and work closely with us to deliver a prosperous future for our town. I believe everyone has a valuable role to play in helping us achieve this.”
The Eastbourne Plan sets out a shared vision of how Eastbourne will develop up to 2027, and makes reference to housing needs, more variety of shops, preserved open spaces, improved transport infrastructure and expanded areas of employment opportunities.
Over the next three months until 11th March 2011, the Council hopes to engage with as many residents and businesses as possible and offer them an additional opportunity to shape the future of the town and help ensure that Eastbourne continues to be a premier seaside destination.
Following feedback from the consultation the plan is scheduled to be adopted in 2012, and it will form the key document for the future development of the town.
Further information about the Eastbourne Plan and details about the forthcoming exhibitions and neighbourhood events can be found on the website or by contacting us directly on 01323 415255. Residents can also join the discussion via the Council's facebook or twitter page.
