Following the amazing success of the new plastic bottle kerbside recycling collection introduced by Eastbourne Borough Council over the summer the council has received numerous comments from environmentally minded local residents who can now not fit all their recycling into their green box!
Eastbourne Borough Council Cabinet Spokesperson for Special Projects Councillor Troy Tester says, “It is fantastic that Eastbourne residents are making the most of the kerbside collection service and that the range of materials collected in the green box has increased. However, if you are finding that you have more recycling than you can fit into your boxes, please contact the Waste Awareness Team who will be happy to send you more. Don’t forget to wash and squash your plastic bottles and remove lids before placing them into your green box.”
Residents can now recycle the following items in their green kerbside recycling box:
- Glass (rinsed)
- Paper
- Cans (rinsed and squashed)
- Textiles and shoes (clean, in pairs and bagged)
- Plastic bottles (rinsed, squashed and caps removed)
