The Disability Involvement Group (DIG) is presenting a series of ‘Scooterbility’ workshops throughout the Summer, designed around responsible Scooter usage. So if you are thinking of using a motorised Scooter/Buggy for the first time and you are not really sure how you will get on, come along to one of our workshops to try one out safely.
If you already use a Scooter but would like to know more about insurance, safety, security, legalities and maintenance, come along too as all this will be covered. It will also be a great opportunity to meet others and have a chat about wheelchair or scooter use.
Eastbourne Borough Council, Disability Champion Councillor Andrew Goodwin says 'One of the areas that the DIG felt disabled people could benefit from is a series of fun, awareness raising workshops called ‘Scooterbility’, regarding the use of motorised scooters. The workshops will be primarily aimed at people who may be considering purchasing or using a motorised scooter for the first time. These workshops will also be useful for those people who already have a scooter but wish to increase their confidence and abilities in driving it.'
The DIG formed just over a year ago as a result of the Council’s Disability Equality Work. It consists of disabled people who want to make a difference and participate in local services influencing the way public authority services are delivered to disabled people and is supported by Eastbourne Borough Council.
The dates of these workshops are Tuesday 1
st July and Tuesday 26 August in the Devonshire Halls at the Winter Garden (10.30am to 12noon) and Tuesday 22 July and Friday 26 September at Willingdon Trees Community Centre (2.30pm to 4pm).
