Blooming Good Start For Seafront Section Of Terminus Road
14 May 2008
The seafront end of Terminus Road is set to look its best for the summer season and beyond.
The Council’s Economic Development Team has been working hard with Marcus King, the owners of Victoria Mansions and some restaurant owners for ideas to improve this important link between the seafront and the shopping & restaurant areas of the town centre.
Eastbourne Borough Council Cabinet Spokesperson for Economy Councillor Steve Wallis says, “Many thanks to all those involved in helping to dramatically improve this part of Terminus Road, the number of current projects will hopefully encourage shoppers and visitors to the area which will help in its long-term development and prosperity.”
Work by the Commercial Estate Agents responsible has meant increasingly strong interest in this area with the number of empty shops, reported on in earlier stories, being reduced from 12 to 4. An agreement brokered by the Economic Development team with Marcus King will shortly see the remaining empty unit’s windows receiving a facelift with displays of copies of works of art from the Towner Collection, enhancing the visual appearance of the area.
Directional banners are also planned, subject to planning permission, to show the importance of the road for customers wishing to visit the seafront and the shops, with the cost being met by property owners, Marcus King.
Marcus King has also generously agreed to sponsor two flower towers to brighten up this section of Terminus Road which will be in place by the beginning of June.
