Eastbourne Extreme returns with a vengeance from 19-20 July 2008 boasting an Animal sponsored bike tour plus the return of last year’s exciting Thundercat Power Boats causing a splash with a Formula One style race in Eastbourne seas.

The two day event is FREE and will return with an even bigger line up of air, land and water outdoor pursuits offering taster sessions, demonstrations and even holding national competitions. Visitors will flock to the beaches on Eastbourne seafront as The UK Windsurfing Association use Eastbourne Extreme as the setting of one leg of their national competition, and will also stage a Freewave competition.

Eastbourne Borough Council Spokesperson for Tourism, Cllr Steve Wallis said “Eastbourne Extreme guarantees a real buzz for 2008, with thrills and spills to really entertain the crowds. Cheer on the daredevils taking part in adrenalin-fuelled competitions, have a go at a new sport, listen to live local music on the Extreme stage or make the most of the festival atmosphere; there is something for everyone at Extreme in 2008.”

Spray Watersports will host a Starboard Tushingham Demonstration Day on the Saturday of Extreme, with a selection of the latest windsurfing and stand up paddlesurfing equipment, plus will offer eager visitors the chance to have a go themselves with taster watersport sessions. While those who prefer to just watch and support can cheer on demonstrators from Eastbourne beach as jet skis, Eastbourne Rowing Club, Thundercat Power Boats, and Kent Land Yachting Club make waves in the sea.

Animal mountain bikers, Eastbourne Skate Association and Brighton and Kent Kite Flyers will be impressing visitors with their acrobatic stunts on land and in the air. Plus hot new sport, Free Running, will be demonstrated by The Urban Shadows who debuted at Extreme in 2007.

This year the event is being staged in association with Fort Fun theme park, with Extreme inspired rides brought in especially to mark the popular seafront event. Scott Manning, of Fort Fun, said: “I am extremely pleased to be supporting one of Eastbourne’s premier events in 2008. The real variety of attractions on offer at Extreme this year means there is something for all the family to enjoy.”

Taking place on the eastern end of Eastbourne seafront, visitors can enjoy the cool, relaxed atmosphere at the festival with brand new live local music playing on the Extreme stage. There’ll also be plenty of entertainment for the whole family, with fairground rides, shopping stalls and plenty of refreshment stops.
