70 Sign Up in First Year

The Eastbourne Construction Partnership has had a great first year.  49 businesses and 21 public organisations have signed up, and support behind the principals of the Eastbourne Construction Training & Employment Charter is still very strong.

Successes over the past year include:

• The Partnerships first Eastbourne Construction Skills Expo. Building on its success the second expo will be held later this year
• Facilitates networking opportunities - business to business and business to public organisations
• Free or discounted training and free business support
• Opportunities to influence the education system
• Continued commitment of members to training their staff and providing work experience placements

Eastbourne Borough Council Cabinet Spokesperson for Economy Councillor Steve Wallis says, “We are pleased with the Charter’s success and congratulate all the businesses who have signed it.  Resources are minimal so the initiative relies on goodwill and partnership working.  Member’s commitment sets an example.

More than £400 million will be spent in Eastbourne in next few years and we actively encourage developers to sign up to the Charter to help boost employment and business growth in the area.”

In order to reach out to more businesses and to make a greater impact on growing professional businesses in Eastbourne and Hailsham, the Partnership has changed its criteria to encourage more businesses to join the Partnership - a unique intelligence sharing network.
