Eastbourne Borough Council will be providing a free green garden waste collection service from early 2009. Residents who choose to ‘opt in’ to the scheme will be provided with a 180 litre wheeled bin or a 90 litre reusable sack and will receive fortnightly, kerbside collections of green garden waste.
If you would like to ‘opt in’, please fill in the application form which you should have received, return it to us and we will write to you towards the end of the year with your first collection date and arrange delivery of your bin/sack.
If you have not received a form you can visit our green garden waste website for further information and to download an application form.
If you already use the current Green Garden Waste service, there is no need to re-apply; we will automatically transfer you to the new scheme.
Eastbourne Borough Council Cabinet Spokesperson for Special Projects Councillor Troy Tester says, “The decision to move to free collections of garden waste shows Eastbourne Borough Council’s commitment to increasing recycling rates and diverting valuable resources from landfill. The new service will provide convenient, fortnightly, kerbside collections of green waste which will be sent locally for composting. Initiatives such as this are hugely important in making Eastbourne a greener town.”
