All residents should by now have received a letter enclosing a free green garden waste application form through their door. Those residents who choose to ‘opt-in’ to the service will benefit from a free, fortnightly collection of green garden waste from their kerbside. The free service commencing in early 2009, gives residents the choice of a 180 litre wheeled bin or a 90 litre reusable sack.
If residents would like to ‘opt-in’ they must complete the application form and return it to the Waste Awareness Team at 1 Grove Road before 31 August. It is essential that application forms are received by this date to avoid a delay in receiving the service. If residents have not received an application form and would like one, they should contact The Waste Awareness Team on 01323 415989.
Eastbourne Borough Council Cabinet Spokesperson for the Environment, Councillor Steven Wallis says "We are really pleased to be able to provide this free service to residents particularly as it will improve on our current recycling rate. I am encouraged by the response which has resulted in over 6,000 application forms being returned in just over a week."
