New Banners Point You in The Right Direction

Seafront Banner
09 July 2008

Banners are being erected on lampposts in Terminus Road between Seaside Road and the seafront to point people in the right direction for shops and seafront attractions.  They have been organised by the Council’s Terminus Road improvement Group (TRIG) as part of plans to improve the aesthetic appearance of the road.

Eastbourne Borough Council Cabinet Spokesperson for the Environment Councillor Steve Wallis said, “The banners are the latest initiative which will improve the appearance and ambience of the town centre for both residents and visitors alike. The whole area has improved considerably recently and it is important we keep the momentum going so local businesses and the town generally benefits.”

The Banners will have striking images of the seafront for people heading south and for those talking a stroll away from the beach there will be pictures of happy shoppers pointing them in the direction of the main shopping areas.

During the last few months different schemes have started in the road to help improve the visual appearance.  Several planting towers have been placed in the street to give some extra colour to the area and artworks from the Towner Collection have been enlarged and are now on show in empty shop windows in Terminus Road.

The cost of these improvements has largely been met by a contribution from Marcus King, managing agents for the stretch of properties from the old Co-op to Harry Ramsdens.
