‘Move to Eastbourne’ is the message Eastbourne is telling ITV and the production company of TV hit show 'Doc Martin'. The invite is a result of residents in the Cornish town, which is currently being used for filming, are calling for it to be banned.
Eastbourne is a seaside resort which easily lends itself to filming with an unspoilt promenade on the edge of the picturesque downs and it boasts one of the largest manmade harbours in Europe.
Eastbourne Borough Council Cabinet Spokesperson for Tourism Councillor Steve Wallis says, “Eastbourne welcomes fine actors, film crews and production companies. We understand the elements of production work and what is required for crews to get the shots they need. Eastbourne Borough Council has a dedicated film unit to work with both production companies and local residents to maximise what the town has to offer which should benefit both the film crews and local residents.
Eastbourne is a sought after film location which has recently been used as the setting for famous films such as 'Notes on a Scandal, Angus Thongs and Perfect Snogging and Harry Potter alongside TV shows including Miss Marple and Little Britain.
