Eastbourne’s Assistant Director for Economy, Tourism and Planning will be moving on from Eastbourne Borough Council at the end of May. Sarah Lamy joined the Council in 2006 and has worked on many projects.
Highlights include getting the Town Centre Regeneration back on track; working with Members and the Sovereign Harbour Residents Association (SHRA) to progress negotiations with Carillion on a master plan for Sovereign Harbour; watching the Bandstand programme expand to become the best bandstand venue in the UK and establishing the inaugural Street Luge World Cup at Beachy Head – Eastbourne GoFast.
Eastbourne Borough Council Cabinet Spokesperson for Economy, Councilor Steve Wallis says, “I think that I can speak for many when I say it has been a pleasure working with Sarah. Having been involved with a number of different projects with Sarah, I have always found her to efficient, effective and very professional. Sarah will be a loss to Eastbourne Borough Council and we all wish her well for the future.”
Sarah, who lives in Eastbourne, will be taking up a post with the South East England Development Agency (SEEDA) as Head of Business Support, leading and managing business support provision and implementing the outcome of the National Business Support Simplification Programme in the South East.
Sarah said “I have had the most fantastic time at Eastbourne, and am really proud to have worked on a range of projects, with a great team of people around me. I shall be sad to leave, but am very much looking forward to my new, regional, challenging role”
The vacant post at Eastbourne will not be advertised and filled until after the completion of the review of the Council’s structure, which is due to be completed in the autumn. In the interim, Sarah’s work will be managed though a combination of acting up by existing post holders and the appointment of an interim manager sourced from an external agency.
