Exhibitors at this year’s Magnificent Motors will be vying for the title of Top Gear as they’re invited to join in the party games at Eastbourne motoring festival’s 5th birthday.
Magnificent Motors returns to Eastbourne seafront next month and promises to be a real spectacle as event organisers, Eastbourne Borough Council, introduce competitions to be judged in the new arena. With a special area cordoned off for commentated motor displays and prize presentation, exhibitors are being encouraged to make the most of the festival atmosphere with the chance to enter two competitions: Top Gear for the Year fancy dress, and Tailgate Picnic, with prizes awarded for the most imaginative picnic served from the boot of a vehicle.
Eastbourne Borough Council Spokesperson for Tourism, Cllr Steve Wallis said “I am really excited by what’s on offer at this year’s Magnificent Motors and can’t wait to see the costumes everyone arrives in! Magnificent Motors is such a brilliant event and I’m sure we’ll see big crowds over the Bank Holiday weekend, with entertainment and activities to keep the whole family amused. From dads admiring classic cars, to mums enjoying a cool refreshment, while the kids jump aboard funfair rides!”
With over 400 vehicles already entered to exhibit at this year’s Magnificent Motors, competition judges could have hundreds of costumes and picnics to choose from, with a really tough decision on their hands. Exhibitors interested in entering either of the competitions in 2008 can complete an entry form now, with entries closing 28 April.
As well as unusual costumes and imaginative picnics, visitors will find a huge display of classic and vintage cars, buses, motorcycles, bicycles, military and commercial vehicles, at the popular event that attracts up to 25,000 visitors each year.
Returning to Eastbourne from 3-4 May this year, the event will be kicked off in style each morning with a vehicle cavalcade along the entire length of the seafront, parading the vehicles of yesteryear as they park up on the Western Lawns.
With funfair rides, space to chill out in the Beer Tent, music from the Magnificent Motors stage, and a French Market joining the Bank Holiday fun, there’s something to keep all the family entertained.
