A special Service of Commemoration of the Life of Admiral Lord Nelson, arranged by the Royal Naval Association, will take place at Christ Church, located on Seaside, on Sunday 21st October. The Worshipful the Mayor of Eastbourne, Councillor Mary Pooley, Councillors, Honorary Alderman, the Royal Navy and the Combined Services have all been invited.
The Mayor of Eastbourne, Councillor Mary Pooley, says, “I am honoured to have been invited to join in the celebrations to commemorate the life of the Admiral Lord Nelson who gave his life for his country. I very much hope to see a large turnout of people at the event to mark this important occasion and to celebrate the life of such an influential figure.”
At 2.00pm attendees will gather near the Sea Cadet Headquarters and at 2.20pm begin a march to Christ Church via Beach Road and Seaside to the Eastbourne Scottish Pipe Band, arriving at the church at 2.35pm. The Mayor will be greeted by Branch President, Mr G. Erridge and Father Neil Chatfield, Vicar of Christ Church, who will be conducting the Service, beginning at 3.00pm.
Following the Service, the marching route will be reversed and the Salutes will then be taken by the Mayor outside the Royal Naval Old Comrades Club, which will be providing hospitality.
