The sounds of live music will fill the evening skies during the International Women’s Tennis Open in Eastbourne.
Tennis Rocks is a series of open air performances taking place at Devonshire Park at the close of tennis play from June 19 to June 22.
Spectators will be able to purchase tickets to watch tennis on the outside courts from 4pm followed by performances by different Sussex bands from 7pm.
Alternatively guests already planning to catch the top tennis on offer during the day can buy an extra ticket for the music in the evening.
LTA Tournament Director Gavin Fletcher said: “Tennis Rocks hits the right notes for everyone. It will be perfect for those people who have to work during the day but want to be part of the tennis experience. It will also be great for spectators who have spent the day watching the top seeds compete but then want to continue enjoying the atmosphere.
“What could be better than listening to live music on a summer night with good food and a cocktail.”
The International Women’s open, held from June 16 to June 23, is Britain’s biggest female tournament and combines the skill of international top seeds with glamour and style.
Last year’s tournament saw Justine Henin compete alongside Kim Clijsters and Amelie Mauresmo.
Tennis Rocks is just one of a series of events which will make this year’s tournament bigger and better than ever.
The following bands will perform from 7.30pm to 9.30pm:
Tuesday, June 19 – The Bonners Band
Funky upbeat interpretations of classic and contemporary songs.
Wednesday, June 20 – The Tar Babies
The sounds of the sixties
Thursday, June 21 – The Diamond Dogs
A David Bowie tribute band
Friday, June 22 – EG Riley’s Rockin’ Soul
A 7 piece soul band with a collection of Stax, Motown and Funk classics.
Music tickets are available at £8 or £4 for guests holding a ticket for the tennis during the day. Prices for adult tickets to Centre Court range from £16 to £29.
