Something For The Ladies at Eastbourne Tennis Championship

Issued by the Lawn Tennis Association on 1 May 2007

Whether it’s a hen day, birthday bash or simply a girlie day out, the International Women’s Open is the place to go.

With a great blend of glamour, relaxation and quality tennis, this year’s tournament, on June 16 to June 23, offers a variety of events for women to enjoy.

Ladies Day, on Tuesday 19 June, will provide the perfect opportunity to pull on some designer dressing and enjoy the glitz and glamour of the atmosphere. Female visitors on this day will receive a gift bag and can make use of the complimentary nail treatments.

The Eastbourne Open Nail Bar, situated in the Congress Suite and run by professionals and students at Sussex Downs College, will be available for free on Ladies and Finals (Saturday June 23) Day. The practitioners will provide one to one nail treatment care.

Girls Day Out packages are also on offer every day during the tournament. These include Centre Court tickets to watch the tennis, a four course picnic, a glass of champagne or Pimms and an afternoon tea. Prices start at £67 for two people. For more information or to book a package call the box office on 01323 412000 prior to June 13.

Throughout the whole tournament visitors will be able to enjoy Strawberry Cream Teas, with proceeds from this being donated to Britain’s biggest female charity – Breast Cancer Care.

The International Women’s Open attracts some of the biggest stars of women’s tennis. Last year’s tournament, which is held at Eastbourne’s famous Devonshire Park grounds, saw the likes of Justine Henin compete alongside Kim Clijsters and reigning Wimbledon champion Amelie Mauresmo – who then went on to win Wimbledon.

LTA Tournament Director, Gavin Fletcher, said; “We are trying to get the message across that the International Women’s Open is about more than just fantastic tennis. On top of the thrill of watching some of the world’s best female tennis players, the tournament has the right ambience and atmosphere for a great day out.”

To secure your tennis experience, you need to act now as tickets are selling faster than ever. Prices for adult tickets for the tennis range from £16 to £29. For tickets call the box office on 01323 412000 or visit http://eastbourne.lta.org.uk for more information.
