The Tennis is Cheaper by Train

Inside Eastbourne Train Station

16th June 2007

Getting to watch the International Women’s Open in Eastbourne is easier than ever this year thanks to Southern Rail.

Organisers of the first class tennis tournament, which attracts the world’s top seeds, have linked up with the train company.

Together they are offering discounted Centre Court tickets to visitors who travel to the tournament by train.

Spectators who book off-peak train tickets to Eastbourne on Southern trains online will be able to save on the train ticket itself as well as up to £3 off Centre Court tennis tickets.

The International Open, which takes place at Devonshire Park from June 16 to June 23, is the biggest women’s tournament in Britain.

LTA Tournament Director, Gavin Fletcher, said: “We are expecting lots of top tennis action at this year’s tournament. As well as this we are trying to promote the message that it is about more than just fantastic tennis. Throughout the week we are hosting a variety of activities. These include a glamorous Ladies Day on June 19 with complimentary nail treatments and posh picnics on offer. On top of this for the first time we are staging Tennis Rocks – a series of Sussex based bands performing in the evenings after place.
