Hospitality staff at the International Women’s Open will be looking glam for Ladies Day thanks to students at Sussex Downs College.
Therapists from the Hairdressing and Beauty School will be giving hostesses a makeover, along with complimentary nail treatments for guests in the hospitality suite on Tuesday 19 June.
Eastbourne Borough Council Cabinet Member for Economy, Tourism & Environment, Councillor Steve Wallis said “The International Women’s Open is a perfect day out – from world class tennis and garden party atmosphere to the glamour of Ladies Day. A perfect treat for someone special, enjoy a day of pampering without missing any of the tennis action!”
Beauty therapy students will also be offering a complimentary nail bar by the shopping village on Tuesday for all visitors as they arrive, as well as keeping players nails neat and polished.
A spokesperson from Sussex Downs College said “This is a wonderful opportunity for the students to be able to demonstrate their skills and to be part of this grand occasion.”
Visitors can also look forward to free Ladies Day goody bags at the tournament packed with freebies to take home, or help raise valuable funds for Breast Cancer Care with a Strawberry Tea – part of their national Strawberry Tea fortnight.
Ladies Day also marks the start of Tennis Rocks – a new series of evening concerts, celebrating classic mowtown, funk and 60’s greats through to contemporary hits and the best David Bowie tribute act in the country.
The tournament organised by the Lawn Tennis Association returns from 16 – 23 June with world number one Justine Henin defending her title. Justine leads a star studded line up including Amelie Mauresmo, Svetlana Kuznetsova and Nadia Petrova.
